My "reclyner", unlike most other recliners, is light enough to moved around easily, even outdoors and used as a deck chair. When used with the matching footstool, it's like a lounger or chaise lounge or what some call a lazy boy. After visiting many chair stores, recliner stores, and even outdoor furniture stores, I saw nothing similar to the handcrafted, maple wood, motion furniture I've been making for over 25 years. I plan to design other versions of my reclyner in danish furniture styles, adirondack furniture styles and mission furniture styles. Always in solid wood, be it hard sugar maple or white oak ( better suited for outdoor use )
The sling back design allows for your spine to be supported the way IT wants to be supported. In the 2 most upright positions however, the seat portion of the sling is supported by hidden, contoured ridges on the inside of the seat sides making for a more conventional feel when reading. Although very comfortable as is, with the addition of the cushions made for me exclusively by Cottonbelle of Belle, MO., this chair becomes one you'll be comfortable spending hours in. I know. I've been testing mine in my living room/den/office for more than 6 months now, and almost always end up falling asleep in it during the late night news broadcasts.
